Under the sponsorship of the Firehouse Theater Company and the
Durfee Foundation blind playwright/actor Lynn Manning,
director/actor John FreelandJr., by two other blind
performers, Rick Boggs and Amber McLain will travel to the
October 7-14,2005 Festival of the Blind and Visually-Imaired
in Croatia. Lynn Manning's plays WEIGHTS, SHOOT, and BEFORE
THE DRIVE TO OAKWOOD STATION are scheduled to be
performed. By special request the performance of WEIGHTS
will open the Festival.

tectonics of L.A.'s black and brown power struggle provide the
emotional landscape for this contemporary Afro/Latino twist on
Shakespeare's Othello.

Founded in 1948, and until 1986 the only blind theatre company

Chriskwanzika: The Year in Revue"
The Moving Targets, LA's Interactive Political Satire
Troupe present an hilarious revue of song parodies, sketch and
interactive improv based on events in the news (and the ghosts
of news events past). The show features Jim Troesh, who has
performed in many Firehouse Theatre productions.
Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 8pm from Dec. 4th through

Fatal Ground, a new play by Dr. Ladonna Hayes, relates her
ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis. The play was given a
profession reading in August 2002 at Kings Road Park in the city
of West Hollywood. |

Weights,
Lynn Manning's powerful play, recently ended its run at the Marc
Taper Forum's Taper Too after receiving terrific reviews.
November 12th, Weights was honored with 3 NAACP Theater awards
in the Local Theater category. Best Male Performer: Lynn
Manning, Best Sound Design: Karl Lundeberg and Al Jackson, Best
Lighting Design: Geoff Korf.
Africani-American Playwright/Performer Lynn Manning relives his
life before and after a bullet brutally took his sight. Through
poetry, music and narrative, he takes his audience on a wild
ride through his South Central upbringing. This powerful play
penetrates the inner spirit within all us to overcome adversity
in times of extreme hardship. “Weights” is directed by
Robert Egan, the set design is by Akeime Mitterlehner, costumes
are by Candice Cain, and lighting is by Geoff Korf. Karl Fredrik
Lundeberg is the composer and sound designer. Al Jackson is the
DJ and sound designer.
